BROUGHT TO YOU BYNAB

CARLTON, Adelaide and North Melbourne will be the major beneficiaries of Fremantle's decision to go all in on last year's NAB AFL Draft.

After taking gun half-back Hayden Young and 2020 NAB AFL Rising Star Caleb Serong, the Dockers matched a bid for Academy speedster Liam Henry, putting them into deficit for this year's draft.

The Dockers lost 265 draft points for 2020, meaning this year's pick seven slides back to selection No.10.

As a result, Carlton (now selection No.7), Adelaide (No.8) and North Melbourne (No.9) will move up the order.

The Crows' selection comes courtesy of a deal struck with Greater Western Sydney last year that sent pick No.4 to the Giants in exchange for pick No.6 and this year's first-rounder.

It means the Giants' worst season since 2015 comes as a major victory for the Crows as they rebuild with three picks currently inside 20.

Meantime, the Roos are the winners from Melbourne's failed season, leaving Rhyce Shaw's side with two top-10 selections after a pick swap during last year's Trade Period.

With 10 teams now out of finals contention, the first 11 picks of this year's NAB AFL Draft are set in stone with the remaining picks to be confirmed immediately after each of the finals.

Pick No.11 was locked in for Geelong after it acquired Gold Coast's concession pick in a transaction struck during last year's NAB AFL Draft.

Greater Western Sydney was also carrying a 254-point deficit on this year's draft after the deal to land Academy gun Tom Green. However, it must come on its second-round pick after trading its first-round pick in the aforementioned deal with the Crows.

Even if the Giants were awarded a first-round compensation pick for Carlton-bound Zac Williams, that would come after the Grand Final and would have no bearing on the deficit.

As it sits, the Giants' second-round selection at No.28 would slide back to 39.

Port Adelaide also went into deficit after matching a bid for father-son prospect Jackson Mead last year, with the Power's second-round pick No.37 push back to No.43.

The year's free agency window runs from October 30-November 6 and the Trade Period falls November 4-12.

The NAB AFL Draft will be held during the week commencing December 7.
