Friday night's clash between Collingwood and Carlton looks set to be broadcast live in Melbourne.
An AFL spokesman said an announcement on the game's broadcast would be made on Tuesday morning.
Friday night matches are usually shown on an hour delay and screened after Better Homes and Gardens.
But Channel Seven could show the game live after crowds in excess of 80,000 were predicted for the clash between the top two undefeated teams on the ladder.
The station is in contention for the next round of AFL broadcast rights, which are currently being negotiated
