HAWTHORN half-back Brent Guerra is continuing to do everything he can to be fit in time for the Grand Final, should the Hawks make it.

Guerra tore his hamstring against West Coast in round 23, and was rated unlikely to take the field again this season.

But in a promising sign, the 30-year-old completed a running session at Waverley Park on Monday morning and moved at good pace.

Teammate Jordan Lewis said Guerra had been ultra-professional in his rehabilitation from the injury.

"He's been really positive," Lewis said on Monday.

"He's jotted down everything he's done so that in the future if a young guy has the same injury, he can go to 'Goo' and see what he's done.

"But he's out there running today, which is a great recovery, and he's giving himself every opportunity to play."

If Hawthorn beats Adelaide on Saturday, it is likely Guerra would need to train fully next week to be considered for Grand Final selection.

Lewis said given the veteran's form throughout the year, he wouldn't be discounted lightly.

"He's been a quality player all year and a great servant to the club, so I think they'll give him every chance to play," he said.

Guerra has played 19 games this season, and been a key member of the Hawks' back six.
