1977......Waverly Park.....St Kilda getting trounced by Richmond. One of my Dad's R.A.A.F. mates was a bit "tired and emotional". He loved his Saints and in between abusing Kevin Bartlett (who was kicking goal after goal from any angle) and the umpires he sobbed continuously into his beer.
And then it happened...Allan Davis went off. He scored 10 goals that day. 9 in the second half. My Dad's (and my) mate went delirious. We won by 6. The mate had to be dragged off from kissing a policeman at full time!!!! He subsided in the back of the car going home......singing till he dropped The Mighty Saints Marching In.....
