ADELAIDE insists it won't be flat coming off a bye and expects the six-day break to work in North Melbourne's favour for Thursday night's blockbuster at the Adelaide Oval.

The eighth-placed Crows are in the midst of a four-game winning streak as they push towards a spot in the top four in the second half of the season.

Crows ruckman Sam Jacobs told reporters on Monday that they wouldn't be using the bye as an excuse.

"The draw is what it is, we knew it was coming up and we've prepared really well,'' Jacobs said.

''We've used 27 guys (this season) so our fitness staff do a really good job managing players.

"Whichever way you look at it, we feel like we're really prepared to attack North Melbourne on Thursday night.

"We won't be thinking it's a break of momentum or anything like that.''

In contrast, the Kangaroos have lost three of their past four games having won their first nine games of the season and are coming off a brutal nine-point loss to Hawthorn on Friday night.

''Six-day breaks sometimes can work in your favour,'' Jacobs said.

''They obviously lost to Hawthorn and they're ready to go.

''I'm sure they'll recover really well, we know how professional teams are and they'll be ready to go, as we are.

''If you start reading into those sort of things you're probably looking at the wrong stuff.''

Jacobs also said it was up to players to make sure they were tackling correctly with confusion over the interpretation of head-high tackles.

"Especially when they (the umpires) are probably a bit unsure with the rules, the onus is on the tackler to make sure you get your technique right,'' Jacobs said.

"Safety is first and foremost and I think it will take a bit of time to see how they are going to handle it and what it's going to look like going forward.

''We are practising it and making sure we can handle it really well.''
