WEST Coast coach John Worsfold remains non-committal on the imminent debut of Nick Naitanui, but says his prized draft pick is ready to play.

Naitanui, 19, produced his most complete game of WAFL football on the weekend, ensuring the West Coast match committee would now consider him for Saturday's clash with Richmond at Docklands.

Worsfold said he wasn't looking to make changes to the side that pushed Geelong on Sunday, however, Naitanui was progressing as he hoped.

"His form has improved week-to-week. So he's now ready to play at the highest level if that opportunity is there for him," Worsfold said from Subiaco Oval on Tuesday.

"We're not expecting him to come in and dominate the competition. We're expecting him to come in like you'd expect [from] any first-year player and just do his best and learn and start his career and build on it week-to-week.

"Our expectations are really long-term what he'll bring the footy club."

Naitanui had 15 possessions, 21 hit-outs and booted four goals for Swan Districts at the weekend.

Worsfold said it was the exciting youngster's ability to hunt the football and his relentless tackling that would benefit the side when he was finally called on.

"There's no doubt he'll do some unbelievably exciting things in games," Worsfold said.

"What we want him to be able to do is also in between doing those things – which may be one or two a game, or one every couple of games – is be a good consistent footballer for us.

"The power he's going to bring the side with his tacking ability and his ability to hunt the football are awesome."

Daniel Kerr, who has served a one-week ban, is a certain inclusion for Saturday night's Docklands clash, while David Wirrpanda should be available after missing the Geelong loss with a hamstring injury.

Outside of those two players, Worsfold said he wasn't looking to force changes.

"Just looking to pick the best side," he said. "Sometimes changes are a bi-product of that.

"I couldn't say whether there's going to be many changes or not, but there's always the possibility that there is."

Andrew Embley appears the most likely to miss after injuring his ankle against the Cats.

Worsfold said the 27-year-old had scans last night, which the club would receive this morning.

Meanwhile, highly rated draft pick Luke Shuey is set to miss up to two months after sustaining a fractured fibula.

Shuey has been unavailable since West Coast drafted him with pick No.18 in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft, the club taking a conservative approach with his groin injury.

The 19-year-old copped his most recent injury blow in just his second WAFL reserves game for the season.
