SUMMARY
The last-placed Power will need to stage the upset of the season to topple ladder-leaders Collingwood at AAMI Stadium on Saturday night. The clash between these two teams shapes as a mismatch to rival their respective ladder positions, with the Magpies coming into form at the right time of the year and Port Adelaide in the midst of a seven-game losing streak.
Adding to the Power's woes are the injuries to key players Jay Schulz, Troy Chaplin, Jackson Trengove and Tom Logan, who are all in doubt for the game against the Pies. In contrast, Collingwood expects to welcome back premiership players Dale Thomas, Alan Didak and Sharrod Wellingham for the clash.
The Magpies were irresistible against Essendon last weekend. The Bombers stayed with the reigning premiers for three quarters, but were blown away in the Magpies' 10-goals-to-one final term.
Port Adelaide's only hope of beating Collingwood may lie with Chad Cornes. The premiership hero has announced Saturday night's match against Collingwood will be his last, and the club will be hoping the emotion surrounding his retirement will give the confidence-sapped players a much-needed boost this week.
QUESTION MARKS
Will the Magpies punt on Didak? Didak struggled for touch prior to injuring his calf against the Sydney Swans in round 14. He's surely part of the club's finals plans, but will need to regain form to push players such as impressive young forward Alex Fasolo out of the all-conquering team.
How can Port Adelaide possibly win? It's hard to see where the Power have an advantage over the Magpies this week, but Essendon's round 15 win over Geelong proves anything is possible if a team takes the right attitude into a game.
PREDICTION
Collingwood by 63 points
TOYOTA AFL DREAM TEAM WATCH
Dane Swan continued his remarkable post-Arizona run, amassing 45 possessions and a goal to post a career-high 171 Dream Team points against the Bombers. All of the coaches who stuck with him in spite of his unusually low scores earlier this season have been rewarded.
Not one Port Adelaide player notched up a Dream Team ton against Adelaide last weekend. Worryingly, young ruckman Matthew Lobbe looked tired, posting his lowest score of the season (47). If he's on your field, it might be time to consider relegating him to the bench.
