THE AFL has confirmed an update to the fixture for round 22 of the 2021 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

Round 22 key information (all times EST):

  • GWS GIANTS vs. Richmond will take place at Marvel Stadium at 7:50pm on Friday, August 13.
  • Hawthorn vs. Western Bulldogs will take place at University of Tasmania Stadium at 1:45pm on Saturday, August 14. The AFL, together with Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs, have agreed to travel arrangements and other protocols as approved by the Tasmanian Government. Both Clubs will fly-in and fly-out for the match on Saturday via charter flight.
  • Port Adelaide vs. Carlton will take place at Adelaide Oval at 4:35pm on Saturday, August 14. The AFL, together with Port Adelaide and Carlton, have agreed to strict travel arrangements and other protocols as approved by the South Australian Government. Carlton will fly-in and fly-out for the match on Saturday via charter flight.
  • Geelong Cats vs. St Kilda will take place at GMHBA Stadium at 4:35pm on Saturday, August 14
  • Brisbane Lions vs. Collingwood will take place at 7:25pm on Saturday, August 14 with the venue to be confirmed.
  • North Melbourne vs. Sydney Swans will take place at Marvel Stadium at 7:40pm on Saturday, August 14.
  • Melbourne vs. Adelaide Crows will take place at the MCG at 2:10pm on Sunday, August 15. The AFL, together with Melbourne and the Adelaide Crows, have agreed to strict protocols as approved by the South Australian Government. The Adelaide Crows will fly-in and fly-out for the match on Sunday via charter flight.
  • Gold Coast SUNS vs. Essendon will take place at 3:20pm on Sunday, August 15 with the venue to be confirmed.
  • Fremantle vs. West Coast Eagles will take place at Optus Stadium at 5:10pm (3:10pm local) on Sunday, August 15.

AFL Executive General Manager Clubs and Broadcasting Travis Auld said he was excited about the final rounds of the home-and-away season.

“We are really looking forward to Round 22 with all nine matches influencing the make-up of the finals,” Mr Auld said.

“The Friday night match between the GWS GIANTS and Richmond has both teams playing for a place in the top eight. That also applies to the WA Derby between Fremantle and the West Coast Eagles on Sunday which is really exciting for fans across the country.

“It is a tight race to the finish and while the pandemic will continue to challenge us over the coming weeks, as an industry, we will continue to adapt as we navigate those challenges.

“We will continue to make changes that best manage the current environment, progresses our season and protects the health and safety of those in our game and the wider community.

“As we have done throughout the pandemic, we will work closely with respective State and Territory Governments, all AFL Clubs and other key stakeholders while ensuring the health and safety of the community remains paramount.”

The AFL also advises AFL Supplementary Protocols are currently in place for the following teams – Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Gold Coast SUNS, GWS GIANTS, Hawthorn, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Richmond, St Kilda, Sydney Swans, Western Bulldogs.
