Hawthorn Football Club was today advised that Bret Thornton intends to remain at the Carlton Football Club for 2007.Thornton’s manager Anthony McConville contacted the Club and informed General Manager Player Personnel and Strategy, Chris Pelchen and explained due to the uncertainty of the forthcoming AFL pre season draft and the constraints of Carlton Football Club having selection number 1, that he will commence contract negotiations with Carlton.“While the Club is disappointed we understand Bret’s decision not to nominate for the pre season draft and respect his wishes to remain at Carlton,” Pelchen said.“Bret is a talented young player and we wish him well for 2007.”
