COLLINGWOOD defender Nathan Brown says he’s "frustrated" by the way his brother is being treated by West Coast, being forced to play in the WAFL.

Mitch Brown publicly declared his desire to return to Melbourne during last season’s trade period, with St Kilda expressing its interest in the Eagles defender.

However, the Eagles refused to release Brown from his contract, forcing him to stay in Western Australia for at least another season.

He was named as an emergency in the club’s round one clash against Fremantle last week.

But Nathan Brown said he would love to see his brother running around for a Melbourne-based team.

"I’m probably the wrong person to ask to comment because I’m pretty frustrated about it," Brown said.

"I want to see my brother play AFL footy, because I know he’s good enough."

Brown said his brother had taken the right approach and was playing his best football in the WAFL.

"But credit to him, he’s in a situation where you can only deal with what you get given," Brown said.

"He knows that he has to play back in the WAFL when he doesn’t get a chance, and I think the last two weeks he’s got best on ground for two games.

"We’ll see what happens, but I wouldn’t mind him back in Melbourne just to hang out with my mate, so I wouldn’t be too unhappy if he did come home."
