FORMER North Melbourne midfielder Sam Gibson will make his debut in an injury-hit Adelaide side in Friday night's clash with the Western Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval.

The Crows (5-3) and the Bulldogs (4-4) have gone in as selected ahead of the first bounce at 7.20pm ACST, with more rain expected during the game.

Gibson played 130 consecutive games with the Kangaroos before being delisted at the end of last season.

The 31-year-old was thrown a lifeline by the Crows, but injured his hamstring the day before the round one loss to Essendon in Melbourne.

He was originally set to return in the SANFL this weekend, but a hamstring injury to All Australian midfielder Matt Crouch forced a change of plans.

Key defender Kyle Hartigan is also back from a hamstring injury he sustained in the round five win against Sydney at the SCG, while youngsters Darcy Fogarty and Lachlan Murphy are recalled following injuries to captain Taylor Walker and high-flying forward Mitch McGovern.

The Bulldogs welcome back captain Easton Wood, utility Jackson Trengove and ruckman Jordan Roughead as they aim for their fourth straight win.

Mitch Wallis, Josh Dunkley, Ed Richards and Patrick Lipinski will start on the bench for the Bulldogs, while Hugh Greenwood, Myles Poholke, Hartigan and Murphy make up the Crows' four-man interchange.

The heavy rain caused damage to one of the three big screens at Adelaide Oval and it won't be in use during the game.

"The south-east big screen has suffered damage during today's storm," the Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority tweeted.

"Technicians have attempted to repair the screen, however the damage is too significant and it will not be operational for tonight's game.

"Apologies for any inconvenience - we hope to have the screen repaired ASAP."
