Cats midfielder Jimmy Bartel has been announced as the 2007 Geelong Advertiser Bendigo Bank Sports Star of the Year.

Bartel won the award ahead of cyclist Cadel Evans who finished second in the Tour de France.

Bartel won the award for his efforts in taking Geelong to its first premiership in 44 years which included a historic Brownlow medal win.

Cats fans who would like to remember Bartel’s remarkable efforts can purchase one of four limited edition Bartel memorabilia pieces from the club.
