PORT Adelaide president David Koch has given his guarantee that Ken Hinkley will remain as coach in 2023.

Koch upped the ante earlier this week when he warned the position of everyone at the club would be reviewed following the team's doomed AFL season.

Hinkley's position was thought to be most at threat, especially with some fans agitating for change.

When pressed on the matter on Monday, Koch refused to guarantee Hinkley would survive the axe this year.

But Koch put the issue to bed on Thursday night when he confirmed Hinkley would remain as coach.

"Plenty has been made of my comments on Adelaide radio on Monday morning about having to improve our football program as a whole," Koch told Channel Seven.

"Obviously, this season has been a major disappointment. We haven't lived up to the expectations we set ourselves and those of our members and supporters.

"As we always do, we'll thoroughly assess our football program at season's end. But as the club has maintained all year, Ken Hinkley is contracted and will be our coach in 2023."

Hinkley boasts a 58.4 per cent win-loss record in his 221 games as coach of Port Adelaide, including taking the club to three preliminary finals.

"Some will argue we should make a change based on our performances this season alone and that Ken has never taken the team to a Grand Final," Koch said.

"But we base decisions on all the information in front of us and we believe Ken as senior coach provides the best chance of rebounding next season, including successfully attracting new talent and football department resources to make us better."
