GEELONG skipper Joel Selwood was named to return as a late inclusion for Sam Menegola for Sunday's game against North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium, but that move lasted just 30 minutes before the Cats pulled another shock.

Despite Selwood being brought in for Menegola, who is out with a knee injury, a decision was made by the Cats not long after that the captain wasn't quite right to play.

Charlie Constable will now play in Selwood's place, with the young midfielder to play his first game since round six.

North Melbourne has also made a late change with defender Marley Williams out for personal reasons, with Sam Durdin in to play his first game since round 10, 2018.

Patrick Dangerfield, who strained the medial ligament in his left knee when he fell awkwardly in a marking contest in last Sunday's game against Essendon, has been passed fit to play.

The superstar failed to train at the club's main session on Thursday, leading to doubts about his availability.

But he has passed the medical tests and is locked in to play.

The experienced Zach Tuohy also returns to the Cats' line-up at the expense of young defender Zach Guthrie in changes communicated on Thursday night.

Young North Melbourne forward Curtis Taylor will make his debut as the replacement for Scott Thompson.
