FIVE Melbourne players have made strong cases to be included for its final match of the season against Richmond at the MCG on Sunday, after impressive performances for Sandringham on the weekend.

Ben Holland, Nathan Carroll, Ricky Petterd, Addam Maric and Jack Grimes are all in contention for a call-up, according to Melbourne football operations manager Ross Monaghan.

"I think they'd all be considered," Monaghan told melbournefc.com.au. "There is a quite a few in the mix."

Monaghan said it was not out of the question Grimes could make his AFL debut in what will be Adem Yze and Jeff White's final appearance this round.

"He would be some sort of chance," Monaghan said of Grimes.

Carroll was one of Sandringham's best, playing in the unfamiliar ruck position.

"Nathan ended up playing in the ruck, because Sandy didn't have a ruckman, with Paul Johnson having hip surgery, John Meesen out with an ankle injury, 'Whitey' [Jeff White] playing in the seniors and Jake Spencer out with glandular fever," Monaghan said.

"It left Sandy with no ruckman at all, so Nath Carroll stepped in and had a terrific game, with 24 touches."

Jack Grimes (24 disposals and 13 marks), Addam Maric (30 touches), Ricky Petterd (26 possessions, eight marks and three goals) and Ben Holland (13 marks and 25 touches)

Monaghan said youngster Kyle Cheney also impressed in the Sandringham seniors and pleased coach Andy Lovell. Defender James Frawley was also solid.

Monaghan said Shane Valenti "battled hard despite being tagged" and Jace Bode did a "good nullifying job".
