In 2023, AFL.com.au and the AFL Live app will take you deeper into the Smithy’s VFL and rebel VFLW than ever before.

Not only will every game of the season be streamed lived on the AFL website (AFL.com.au), and the AFL Live Official App, this year we’re launching State of Play: VFL/W Podcast.

To be published every Tuesday throughout the season, Joe Pignataro and Lucy Watkin will take you inside the men’s and women’s competitions and recap the action from the round and looking ahead to what’s in store this weekend.

Asking all the probing questions, as well as talking to people within the game. Ahead of the opening round, a huge first episode features:

- VFL stalwart Ben Jolley has returned to Williamstown, he is 10 matches away from the magical 300, and 13 games short of breaking the all-time VFL/VFA competition games record held by Seagulls legend, Billy Swan.

- Mia Rae-Clifford remains the co-captain of the Bombers, in pursuit of back-to-back premierships at the Hangar, this week she plays her 100th VFLW match.

- AFL Head of State Leagues, Jennie Loughnan, has had a big off-season, scheduling 33 VFL/W double-headers and introducing the Wildcard Round in the VFL.
