GOLD Coast has secured a future first-round draft pick from West Coast in a complicated deal that could help it land Fremantle's Lachie Weller.

However, the Suns will need to either turn that pick into a top-four selection this year or part with their own pick No.2 to get the Weller deal done.

The Suns have sent the Eagles picks No.21, No.26 and No.37, and in return received the Eagles' 2018 first-round pick and this year's No.50 selection.

West Coast has been keen to get its hands on more top-50 selections in this year's draft following the exit of a number of veteran players.

Gold Coast has hit roadblocks in its attempts to land Weller and was told on Thursday, following the pick swap with West Coast, that the Eagles’ future first-round pick was not sufficient to land the young Docker.
