BASKETBALLER Erin Phillips has signed with Adelaide’s women’s team.

The 31-year-old Phillips, daughter of former Collingwood and Port Adelaide (SANFL) player Greg Phillips, is a dual Olympian and is currently playing for the Dallas Wings in the WNBA in the United States.

The Crows signed Phillips as a rookie and will also employ her in a part-time role to work in various departments including media and communications and commercial operations. In line with AFL rules, rookies must not have participated in organised football in the past three years. Phillips played football as a junior before pursuing basketball.

“When Adelaide contacted me I was blown away by how committed they were, not only to getting me to play but to the women’s game itself,” said Phillips, who will return to the WNBA when the women’s season ends in March.

“I am thrilled we were able to come to an arrangement which works for all parties.

“Having grown up watching Dad, (playing football myself) has definitely been something I wanted to do. Now I get this opportunity and I’m really grateful,” she said.

Phillips has won two WNBA titles, a world championship gold medal and an Olympic silver medal.
