The 2023 AFL National Championships – U18 Boys begins this weekend, with South Australia to host the Allies at Adelaide’s Thebarton Oval on Sunday, June 4 in the opening game of the tournament.

The Championships will feature the country’s most talented under 18 boys footballers, some of who may become the next generation of AFL stars.

The 2023 AFL National Championships – U18 Boys will again feature five teams. South Australia, Victoria Country, Victoria Metro and Western Australia will all compete, along with the Allies, which will comprise players from the ACT, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland and Tasmania.

The Championships will be played across Australia throughout June and July.

Sunday’s opener between South Australia and the Allies will be played from 11:00am (ACST).

Victoria Metro and Western Australia will commence their campaign the following week, when they feature in a double-header with South Australia and the Allies at Thebarton Oval on Sunday, June 11.

Victoria Country will play its first match on Sunday, June 18 when it takes on South Australia at IKON Park.

All five teams will play each other once across the course of the Championships.

The team that finishes atop the standings at the conclusion of the round-robin tournament will be crowned the title winner. If two teams finish equal on points atop the ladder, the title will be awarded to the team that won the round-robin match between those two teams. If more than two teams finish equal on points atop the ladder, the title will be awarded to the team with the highest percentage.

Victoria Metro is the reigning title holder after last year taking out the Championships for the first time since 2017.

At the conclusion of the 2023 AFL National Championships – U18 Boys each team will select their MVP, with an overall MVP and All Australian team to also be selected by a selection panel comprising AFL Talent Pathways staff and AFL recruiters.
