GEELONG captain Joel Selwood will challenge his one-match ban for striking Port Adelaide's Lindsay Thomas at the Tribunal on Tuesday night.

Selwood joins Thomas and Hawthorn's James Sicily - who were both referred directly to the Tribunal for separate incidents - in a bumper night of hearings.

The Cats skipper was found to have made intentional contact with low impact to Thomas' head during the second quarter of Saturday's win at Adelaide Oval.

Coach Chris Scott said on Monday night the Cats believed there were problems with the Selwood finding.

"There seems to us to be a number of inconsistencies with this one," told Fox Footy on Monday night.

"I don't really want to refer to other issues, and the rules are quite complex when it comes to what constitutes misconduct, especially behind the play," Scott said.

"I need to be a little bit careful, but I'll leave it to the QC and those who understand the rules better than I do to work through it, but I think as a football person you look at it - and independent of the fact his brother has just been knocked out - you think, is that worth a week?"

Geelong doesn't risk a further week's suspension at the Tribunal table by challenging, however if unsuccessful, will be forced to pay $10,000.

Thomas was sent straight to the Tribunal for a rough conduct charge with severe impact to the head of Cat Scott Selwood, the incident that led to Joel flying the flag for his brother.

Meanwhile, Sicily will fact the charge of "serious misconduct" after he appeared to stomp on the leg of North Melbourne's Shaun Atley.

Proceedings will begin from 5pm and will overlap the Anzac Day Eve clash at the MCG as Melbourne meets Richmond.
