Naitanui, the No.2 pick at last year's NAB AFL Draft, has been sidelined since undergoing precautionary knee surgery in early January.
He will line up for half a game with Swan Districts' reserves side this week.
Coach John Worsfold said his star recruit was building towards full game time within three weeks, and an eventual push for AFL selection.
"We want him to play really strict ground time this week," Worsfold said on Tuesday.
"Providing he pulls up well, we'll just keep building him up, say play 80-90 minutes footy the following week and hopefully then [he's] available to play full ground-time after that.
"It's exciting for us to know that he's been back on the training track and getting ready to play."
Worsfold said he was confident Naitanui would show enough form in the WAFL to push for AFL selection this season and add depth to the list.
Following the Eagles' 33-point win over the Western Bulldogs there is a squeeze for positions following this week's Launceston appointment with reigning premier Hawthorn.
Josh Kennedy took 15 marks and kicked three goals in the WAFL, while Tim Houlihan had 35 touches and 14 marks.
"There's not a desperate need for [changes], but we have to really sit down and assess what we want to go in with against Hawthorn," Worsfold said.
"The changes we made last week weren't necessarily dropping players for form.
"(But) we would hope that there's pressure on every one of our players in each position with the form of Sam Butler, Scott Selwood, Matt Spangher, Jamie McNamara, (Brad) Ebert, all those guys.
"They're ready to play, they're in good form and they could come into the side at any time.
"If players aren't playing to the level we expect then there's a player in the wings ready for their opportunity."
Worsfold said he expected Chad Fletcher to recover from the groin injury that sidelined him for the Bulldogs clash.
