NORTH Melbourne once again proved they are the best team in the competition as they outplayed Collingwood by 45 points at Arden St on Sunday.

With Narrm, Sydney and Hawthorn joint top of the ladder with four wins from four, the Roos sent a reminder that they are still the team to beat with a 8.10 (58) to 2.1 (13) win over the Pies to join the leading teams on 16 points.

It is North's 16th consecutive win, extending the competition record.

The Pies have now lost back-to-back games as North proved too good on a windy day, kicking eight goals to two.

While North struggled to convert chances in the early part of the game, and the Pies looked strong early, the Roos proved why they are the best side in the competition.

ALL THE HIGHLIGHTS

Collingwood had their moments after a scoreless first half, but North Melbourne was exceptional.

Emma Kearney (24 disposals) and Mia King (26 disposals) were everywhere and controlled the match, especially in the first quarter, while Ash Ridell led the way with 36.

Tahila Randall was once again exceptional with two goals and 11 disposals, while Alice O'Laughlin had 12 disposals and a goal. North full back Libby Birch (17 disposals) was brilliant as she created pressure on Pies forwards' and prevented them gaining momentum.

Collingwood looked promising last week against Naarm, but this week, even with captain Ruby Schleicher (15 disposals) at her best, they weren't effective and struggled to convert chances. Tarni White (27 disposals) played a lone hand for the Pies against a dominant Roos outfit.

The only concern for the Roos is a back issue for Tessa Boyd, who was a late withdrawal and was replaced by Ariana Hetherington.

Mia King's magic
Mia King was outstanding after North struggled to get going early, breaking the deadlock to put the Roos ahead. With 75 seconds remaining in what had been a goalless term to that point, King pounced on a loose ball at her feet and kicked truly from 35 metres. She finished the day with 26 disposals in a controlled performance throughout

Positives for Pies
The Pies showed some promising sides in the second half, even though they lost, as Kalinda Howarth and Ash Centra kicked a goal each. Brittany Bonnici (19 disposals) and Lucille Cronin (18 disposals) also impressed.
