Collingwood took its unbeaten streak into week one of the VFLW Finals after beating Geelong by six points at the Holden Centre.

Mikala Cann and Chloe Molloy led the Pies with their 20 and 18 disposals respectively. Cann dominated the stoppages for Collingwood with eight clearances to her name and Molloy kicked a crucial goal.

For the Cats Rebecca Webster and Renee Garing did their best to keep their side in the game with Webster having 20 disposals and five inside 50s and Garing with a game-high 10 tackles.

Essendon and Casey played out a thrilling elimination final that saw the Bombers advance to the second week of finals after winning by just three points.

Lauren Ahrens continued her good form since returning to the Bombers' line-up after a stellar season at the Suns.

Alyssa Bannan kicked two crucial goals for the Demons and Casey Sheriff did well in difficult conditions, winning 20 disposals. 

The Southern Saints defeated Port Melbourne to also go to the second week of finals with a 34-point win.

Jess Matin was one of the stars of the Saints side, collecting 20 disposals and kicking two goals including a stunning volley in the goalsquare to seal the game in the fourth quarter.

For the Borough Ellie McKenzie showed her strength and speed at stoppages with her 13 disposals, eight of which were contested. 

State League Players 

Marla Neal dominated the stoppages alongside Mikala Cann, winning six clearances of her own to go with 13 disposals.

Essendon’s Georgia Nanscawen was impressive in her first VFLW final, collecting 28 disposals, 22 contested possessions and 12 tackles.

Eliza West was dominant in the midfield for Casey, leading with 23 disposals but couldn’t quite get her side over the line.

Southern Saints’ Tara Bohanna had another impressive performance with her 20 disposals, two goals and six marks. But it was Gabby De Angelis who looked threatening all day for the Saints and she was rewarded with 18 disposals and a goal.

NEW SOUTH WALES 

Due to the two-week lockdown there were no games in the AFL Sydney competition.

CANBERRA

State League Players

The Ainslie Tricolours returned from the break with a come-from-behind win over the Belconnen Magpies. Georgia Clayton was highlighted for her efforts in the tight seven-point win that puts the Tricolours on equal points with the Magpies and Queanbeyan Tigers on the ladder.

Hannah Wallett and Ally Morphett combined to kick all three of the Magpies' goals with Morphett named the best.

The Eastlake Demons notched its fourth win of the season with a 60-point win over Tuggeranong Valley AFC. Karina Demant and Catherine Brown kicked four and three goals respectively to lead the Demons to victory.

Eight goals to former Gold Coast Sun Alexia Hamilton helped the Queanbeyan Tigers to a massive 157-point win over the Gunghalin Jets.

Mindy Quade had five goals of her own while Alexia Hamilton’s two sisters Jayde and Cynthia were also in the goalkickers and the teams' best.
