The NAB AFL Trade Period is approaching an exciting climax with a series of deals still to be completed in the final two days.

Demon Jack Watts and Port Adelaide's Brendon Ah Chee scored fresh starts on Tuesday, joining the Power and West Coast, respectively, for draft picks.

But Jake Stringer, Gary Ablett, Lachie Weller, Charlie Cameron, Matthew Kennedy and Harley Balic are among the players hoping to secure a new AFL home before Thursday's 2pm AEDT deadline.

Lions reject Crows' Zorko bid

Adelaide asked for All Australian and triple best and fairest Dayne Zorko as part of the negotiations for Charlie Cameron to make his way to the Brisbane Lions, the Herald Sun reports.

Crows list manager Justin Reid and Cameron's management continue to butt heads as they demand a player rather than a draft pick in exchange for the wantaway forward.

Cameron will reportedly join the Lions via the pre-season draft next year if Adelaide does not trade him this week.

The Crows already lost budding star Jake Lever last week to Melbourne, and missed out on free agent Steven Motlop to crosstown rival Port Adelaide.

Ablett happy to take pay cut

Gary Ablett and Geelong will repay Gold Coast an estimated $300,000 from the dual Brownlow medallist's front-ended contract to help him return to Simonds Stadium, The Age reports.

That money will be forwarded to Darcy Lang or whichever Cat agrees to be traded to the Suns as part of any Ablett deal.

The financial development, which includes his ambassadorial role, was on the table before Ablett's sister Natasha died last week, with Gold Coast making the request at the end of September.

The Suns are reportedly willing to accept Geelong's compensation pick, No.19, received for free agent Steven Motlop if no player wants to relocate to the Gold Coast.

Gibbs could yet go home

The Adelaide Advertiser is reporting that Carlton midfielder Bryce Gibbs is the key to Charlie Cameron's hopes of moving to the Brisbane Lions.

The contracted Gibbs is still linked to the Crows despite strong denials from Adelaide that it is interested, and Carlton's unequivocal stance it will not trade the South Australian.

Adelaide will not release Cameron from his contract unless it receives a readymade player in his place, even in a separate deal, because it wants to heighten its immediate flag hopes.

The Crows' bevy of first-round draft selections could help the Blues land big-bodied Greater Western Sydney onballer Matt Kennedy.

Stringer deal inching closer

The Western Bulldogs have accepted that Essendon's picks No.25 and 30 are the best they will get from the Bombers for Jake Stringer as West Coast joins negotiations, The Age is reporting.

The deal would involve the Bulldogs sending Nos. 9, 25 and 30 in this year's draft to the Eagles in exchange for No.13, as well as a swap of future draft selections.

Meanwhile, Fremantle wants to keep any potential trade for out-of-contract Suns forward Brandon Matera separate to wantaway midfielder Lachie Weller.

The Dockers remain adamant they want pick No.2 for Weller.

Dogs out of Schache race

The Western Bulldogs have informed the Brisbane Lions they won't trade for key forward Josh Schache, The Courier Mail reports.

The 2016 premiers had inquired to find out what it would take to lure Schache back to Victoria, potentially using one of picks 25 and 30 they look set to receive from Essendon for Jake Stringer.

But the Bulldogs have since told the Lions they won’t trade for Schache.

The No.2 selection in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft, who signed a two-year contract extension in June, seems increasingly likely to stay in Brisbane.
