Power breaks all-time membership record and eyes 50,000 mark
PORT Adelaide's off-field resurgence has continued, with the club breaking its all-time membership record, surpassing last year's figure of 41,542 on Thursday night.
The club ended the evening with 41,695 members, which marked a 42 per cent rise from the 29,278 members the Power had in 2010.
CEO Keith Thomas said Port now wanted to push beyond 50,000 members for the first time in the club's history.
"On behalf of everyone involved with the Port Adelaide Football Club I thank all our members for their outstanding support in helping us break our membership record as we look to push past 50,000 members by the end of the season," Thomas said.
"Our community and our members are the single most important element of our club. If we don’t have their support, we have nothing."
Thomas said a higher member base would allow increased investment in the Power's football department.
"Increased membership figures allow us to invest more in our football resources and training facilities to give us the best opportunity to enjoy sustained success in this incredibly competitive industry," he said.
"And while we recognise the significance of this membership milestone we will continue to look for ways to give our supporters the best Port Adelaide experience, whether through game-day activations at Adelaide Oval, member support services or our communication channels."
