All the teams for Round 4 in the rebel VFLW.

Georgia and Chloe are back!

Star Essendon premiership co-captain Georgia Nanscawen will play her first rebel VFLW game since injuring her knee in the 2022 Grand Final when the Bombers take on the Western Bulldogs in an important clash at Mission Whitten Oval on Saturday.

And Sydney’s AFLW superstar Chloe Molloy has been named to line up for the Swans in their first VFLW home game against chastened flag fancy North Melbourne at Henson Park.

Nanscawen won the 2021 and 2022 Lambert-Pearce Medals as the best player in the VFLW competition and led Essendon to its historic maiden premiership in the second of those seasons.

But the Australian Hockeyroos great tore her ACL late in the game and missed the chance to take part in the Bombers’ AFLW debut in Season 7.

While she returned to the AFLW team last season, this will be the first time the contested ball gun will grace a VFLW ground since that day.

Nanscawen is one of six changes for the Bombers, with ruck Jaimee-Lee Morrow, the experienced Sophie Molan and Sandringham Dragons debutant Emily Gough also among the inclusions, but Ruby Murdoch has been ruled out for six weeks with an ankle injury and AFLW players Chloe Adams, Ash van Loon and Lily-Rose Williamson have been withdrawn.

The Bulldogs will field their strongest team of the season, with VFLW recruits Mia Cowan (Carlton), Emily Ramsay (Geelong) and Tannah Hurst (Collingwood) to step out for the first time and Jaime Henry returning from a solid showing in the Under-23 All Stars game last week.

Molloy, 25, hasn’t played at VFLW level since 2021, but is a genuine star of the game after co-captaining the Swans to their maiden finals appearance last season.

She is a triple All-Australian, triple club leading goalkicker (Collingwood twice, Sydney one) and the AFLW Rising Star and Collingwood best-and-fairest winner, having burst onto the scene as an 18-year-old in 2017 by winning the TAC Cup best-and-fairest and leading goalkicker and the VFLW Rising Star and goalkicker awards in the same season.

The Swans have also named 2022 No. 5 draft pick Sofia Hurley and Sydney zone selection Alice Mitchell to make their VFLW debuts, with Lauren Szigeti, Alana Woodward and Lisa Steane rested.

The Kangaroos will be desperate to bounce back after a shock loss to Casey Demons last week as recruit Matilda Zander reaches game 50, with Irishwoman Grainne McLaughlin, 26, making her VFLW debut and Annaleise Xanthos playing her first game of the year with Amanda Ling and Felicity Theodore unable to make the trip to Sydney.

Reigning joint Lambert-Pearce medallist Jordan Mifsud will debut for Port Melbourne as it chases a fourth straight win against Casey Demons at Casey Fields.

Mifsud switched from Box Hill Hawks in the off-season only to have her start to the season delayed by a broken hand, with her inclusion important alongside Richmond players Molly Eastman and Jemima Woods and South Croydon’s Georgia Booth, who will also wear the red and blue stripes for the first time.

Tiger trio Eilish Sheerin, Mackenzie Ford and Ally Dallaway step back after one impressive game and Bella Stutt is out with a leg injury.

The Demons made five big changes, with AFLW quartet Tahlia Gillard, Alyssa Bannan, Jemma Rigoni and Georgia Gall coming in alongside young gun Olivia Morris, with ex-skipper Sammie Johnson to miss with illness.

Collingwood lost four players to injury or illness, including another Lambert-Pearce medallist in Akayla Peterson for three weeks with a shoulder problem, for its game against Carlton at Victoria Park, with Northern Knight Mikalee Maroney to debut.

The Blues named three debutants as AFLW players Keeley Sherar, Brooke Vickers, Lily Goss and Mia Austin take a rest, with Fitzroy’s Simone Mooney, Northern Knight Isabella Parnell and Giants Academy graduate Mel Staunton to play their first games.

Darebin stalwart Simone Ruedin will play her 50th VFLW game when the Falcons take on Geelong in Colac on Saturday.

Amazingly it will be the seventh different venue to host the Cats-Falcons fixture in just eight matches between the teams.

Sally Lynch and Millie Shone return to help Ruedin mark the occasion, with the Cats selecting two Coates Talent League youngsters to debut in GWV Rebel Millie Lang and Geelong Falcon Mekah Morrissy, while AFLW draftee Bryde O’Rourke will also debut from Bendigo Pioneers, but Denby Taylor is out for up to three weeks with a thigh injury.

Box Hill Hawks lose three of their AFLW contingent as Mackenzie Eardley, Jenna Richardson and Tamara Smith step aside for the game against Williamstown, while Tess Cattle misses with a shoulder injury, but they have a debutant in Swan Districts WAFLW recruit Jess Cox.

The Seagulls have named local product Megan Smart for her first VFLW game as Stella Bridgewater also returns.

GWS Giants has boosted its team to take on a weakened Southern Saints in the Giants’ first VFLW home game.

The Giants have called in AFLW-listed players Haneen Zreika, Courtney Murphy and Claire Ransom, plus former Swan Zoe Hurrell and a local debutant in Shiarna Tarasenko, with five Academy youngsters stepping aside.

The Saints have copped a huge blow with Eva Nikolitsis to miss the rest of the home-and-away season with a serious leg injury, while AFLW quartet Darcy Guttridge, Natalie Plane, Caitlin Matthews and Ella Friend won’t travel, with Deanna Jolliffe coming in alongside Frankston debutant Felicity Crank.

All matches in the 2024 rebel VFLW season will be live streamed free via the AFL website, AFL Live Official App and VFL App.
