Victorian and Tasmanian girls footballers who feature in the 2024 Indigenous and Multicultural Academies will take part in a football development day in Melbourne on Sunday.

The 2024 Indigenous and Multicultural Academies comprise talented boys and girls footballers aged between 16 to 18 years of age. All players selected in these Academies meet the AFL’s NGA criteria.

This year more than 200 players nationally feature across the Indigenous and Multicultural Academies.

Many of the players in the Indigenous and Multicultural Academies compete in underage State League competitions (Coates Talent League, SANFL U18s, WAFL Colts, etc).

Players in each of the Academies participate in monthly online sessions that focus on four key areas: Football, Leadership, Culture and Wellbeing.

These sessions aim to provide participants with extra learning in addition to the training and education they receive as part of their talent league football program.

For the first time this year, state-based development days will be held across the country for players in the Indigenous and Multicultural Academies to engage in face-to-face learning and football training sessions.

Victorian and Tasmanian female players will come together at RSEA Park this Sunday, June 9 to take part in a range of football activities.

A high-performance football training session will be held in the morning, with players to then engage in several education sessions. Some of these sessions will be facilitated by AFLW players, recruiters and coaching staff.

St Kilda AFLW players J'Noemi Anderson and Hannah Priest will be among the guest presenters. Anderson was previously a member of the Woomeras program, the AFL’s Indigenous talent pathway program for girls aged 16 and under.

As part of Sunday’s activities, members of the Indigenous and Multicultural Academies will also watch the talent showcase match between the Marsh AFL National Academy Girls and national All-Stars, which will be played at RSEA Park from 11:00am.

Below is a list of players who will take part in Sunday’s development day.
