WEST Coast ruckman Scott Lycett did his chances of an immediate recall no harm with a dominant display in the WAFL on the weekend, but he will need to have an honest conversation with coach Adam Simpson later in the week.

Lycett was dropped for disciplinary reasons last week after he had late night out following the loss to Adelaide in round 12.

Simpson was extremely disappointed last Thursday about Lycett's failure to meet team standards of behaviour.

The 23-year-old responded with a stellar performance in the WAFL on the weekend. He was best on ground in East Perth's win over Perth, collecting 26 touches, 27 hit-outs, eight marks, five inside 50s and a goal.

Both the Eagles and East Perth have the bye this weekend and the players and football department are on a four-day break before returning to training on Thursday.

Simpson spoke after the Eagles' win over the Brisbane Lions on Saturday and did not guarantee Lycett's return for the Eagles' next match against Essendon in round 15.

"We'll just weigh it up, and it happened so late in the week, we'll take a deep breath from that and have a chat to him," Simpson said.

But those comments came prior to Lycett's excellent performance for East Perth.

Simpson was complimentary of the efforts of Jonathan Giles and Fraser McInnes against the Lions despite the pair losing the hit-out count 56-25.

Lycett and Nic Naitanui were the best ruck combination in the competition averaging nearly 53 hit-outs in the 11 games they have played together this season.

Naitanui was ranked third in the AFL with 35.6 per game, with Lycett ranked 23rd averaging 17 hit-outs per game despite rucking for less than 40 per cent of game time.

The Eagles are also ranked equal second in the AFL for centre clearances per game this season but they lost the centre clearance count to the Lions on Saturday.

The Eagles have won the centre clearance count in nine of the 11 matches Lycett and Naitanui have played together this season.

The Eagles' 2014 best and fairest Eric Mackenzie is also pushing for a recall after playing in the WAFL last Saturday.

It was Mackenzie's first WAFL game since 2011 after he was surprisingly left out of the side to face the Brisbane Lions. He played the first 11 matches of the AFL season before missing round 12 with illness.

Mackenzie had 13 disposals and took four marks in defence for East Perth on a day when the opposition only ventured inside 50 32 times.

Xavier Ellis was also excellent for East Perth with 29 disposals.
