GREATER Western Sydney will have another debutant against Hawthorn in Canberra with Jye Caldwell called into the final 22 to replace gun midfielder Jacob Hopper.

Hopper will miss the clash with a hamstring injury in a huge blow for the Giants, who are already without co-captain Callan Ward (knee), vice-captains Stephen Coniglio (knee) and Josh Kelly (calf), and Matt de Boer (shoulder) in the midfield.

Caldwell was held over as last week's emergency and has been in outstanding NEAFL form in recent week.

The Giants' first selection and No.11 overall at last year's NAB AFL Draft, Caldwell has overcome groin and calf issues to put together some consistent footy over the past two months.

Hawthorn were also forced into a late change with experienced forward Jack Gunston experiencing some hamstring tightness during the warm-up.

Gunston's place in the Hawks' side has been taken by Irishman Conor Nash.
