Previously known as York Park, Aurora Stadium became an AFL venue in 2001 when Hawthorn and St Kilda agreed to play home games in Tasmania. Located in Launceston, Tasmania Hawthorn played the first game against Adelaide in that year. Each year since Hawthorn has played at least two games at Aurora during the season plus also visiting Hobart and Launceston for the AFL Community Campos on February fir the last three years.





Accommodation
Aurora Stadium is five minutes from all of the major hotels in the Launceston CBD.

Popular accommodation choices include Launceston’s Old Historic Homesteads, Country Club Villas and the Launceston Casino.

Dining
There are several cafes and restaurants on Invermay Road, alongside Aurora Stadium, for lunch before the game or a snack afterwards. The Park Hotel and Inversek Tavern, both opposite Aurora, are good spots for meeting friends before or after a game.

Transport
Aurora Stadium is a 5 minute walk from the CBD so it is easy to get to for patrons. Alternatively a local bus service runs from Launceston to the city. Interstate visitors can catch a taxi or Skybus from Launceston airport to Aurora Stadium, only a 15 minute drive.
