THE INJURY situation at Tigerland is continuing to improve as the competition heads towards the pointy end, with Mark Coughlan still defying chronic hamstrings, and Graham Polak heading in the right direction.

Coughlan has been playing with the Richmond VFL team Coburg after his trip to Germany for treatment in May, and is still a chance to play senior football this year.

"It's a wait and see – he's played now a couple of games, two or three games, in a row," Wallace said of the 2003 best and fairest winner. "He's performed better in each of those games.

"He's probably done it more on courage and head-over-the-ball stuff than ability to run and spread and create, which is the next level of footy.

"Realistically he's still a bit off the mark at the moment, but two or three weeks of continuity in footy, you don't know."

And while Polak has been home for a few hours to watch the footy, he hasn't been into the club, although Wallace expects that to happen soon.

"No, not as yet. I think he's just continuing on with his rehabilitation.

"I would think within the next fortnight that rehabilitation will be conducted down at the footy club."
