ADELAIDE Oval holds no demons for Adam Cerra, and the emerging half-back is eager for another chance to prove Fremantle is no longer a road easybeat against the Crows this Sunday.

The Dockers have a 1-6 record at Adelaide Oval, and have lost on the past five visits by an average margin of 62 points.

Freo's last trip to face Adelaide in round 10, 2017 resulted in a 100-point belting, the first triple-figure loss of Ross Lyon's coaching career in his 250th game in charge.

But that meeting was before 19-year-old Cerra's time, and plenty has changed for both clubs since.

The Crows were charging towards the Grand Final two years ago, and the Dockers were in the midst of a rebuild.

While Adelaide has found form in the past two weeks, Don Pyke's side is still searching for its best, and now Freo is eyeing a return to finals for the first time since 2015.

The second-placed Dockers will head east with confidence after stunning Greater Western Sydney in Canberra two weeks ago.

It was their second win from the past 14 interstate matches, and Cerra is keen to keep the ball rolling after outlasting the Western Bulldogs at home last Saturday night.

"One thing we wanted to improve on from last year was (to) carry that form that we have at Optus to other stadiums around the comp," Cerra said.

"I haven't heard of our record over there (Adelaide Oval). I've never played over there.

"It hasn't really been spoken about but we like to try and ensure that our form doesn't change whether we're at home or away.

"They're always hard to beat at home, so no matter who is playing them at Adelaide it's always going to be a challenge.

"We're excited to take it on and hopefully come home with the win."

AFL.com.au revealed on Monday that Aaron Sandilands had been willing to retire to open up a list spot for the Mid-Season Rookie Draft following repeat calf setbacks.

THANKS, BUT NO THANKS Dockers back selfless Sandi to return

But the Dockers declined the offer, and remain hopeful the 36-year-old ruckman can get back in the event of a September push.

"From what I've seen this year, he comes in every day and works hard on his rehab," Cerra said.

"He looks eager to come back and play. If he's able to get back for the second half of the year, he'll be really important for us."
