ADELAIDE won't stand in the way of senior assistant coach Scott Camporeale if he puts his hand up for the vacant senior coaching position at Carlton.

Camporeale has been part of the Crows' coaching panel since 2011 and impressed as the club's interim coach midway through the 2015 season after the death of Phil Walsh.

He didn't apply for the role on a permanent basis and has worked under senior coach Don Pyke for the past three-and-a-half seasons.

FANTASY FORM WATCH Is it time to trade Cripps?

Camporeale has a long history with the Blues, having played 233 games from 1995-2005 and was part of the 1995 premiership side.

Pyke said he would support Camporeale if he wanted to apply for the senior coaching role at the Blues after Brendon Bolton was sacked on Monday.

"If that's something Scott wants to pursue, then we'll have conversations about what that looks like," Pyke told reporters on Tuesday.

"That's really up for Scott to decide if he wants to throw his hat in the ring.

"He's a fantastic guide and help for me and if he wants to pursue that path, we'll support him in that."

The Crows won seven of 11 games with Camporeale in charge in 2015 to reach the finals.

Camporeale was the midfield coach at the Crows from 2016-18, but this year his role has evolved to take in strategy and game structure.

Pyke has also worked with Blues interim coach David Teague, who was a forwards coach at the Crows for three seasons from 2015-17.

"He gets the opportunity to coach them for the remainder of the season and he'll bring his experience to the role and try and get them going," Pyke said.

Pyke said he felt for Bolton and Brad Scott, who parted ways with North Melbourne last week.

"When you're one of 18 guys doing this job, you feel for Brendon and you feel for Brad, because I know the energy and passion both of those guys coach with," he said.

"They're both outstanding coaches who have finished their careers at the moment, but I'm sure they're going to have plenty of time left in footy."

The Crows stand to benefit from the Blues having a poor season, having secured their first-round draft pick in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft in exchange for pick 19 – that turned out to be Liam Stocker – and Adelaide's pick this year.

But Pyke said that was the least of his concerns.

WHO'S WINNING? Blues, Crows, Liam Stocker and the No.1 pick

"That's something that was done, we're focused on winning games of footy," he said.

"How Carlton go is the least of our worries.

"We're looking for a win on Saturday night."
