WEST Coast will be without speedster Lewis Jetta for the start of a challenging month of football, while injury-plagued Nathan Vardy is set for another stint on the sidelines after his adductor issue flared up.

Jetta came off after tweaking a calf during the frantic final quarter of Sunday's hard-fought Western Derby triumph.

The ex-Swan will at least miss the upcoming clash with Port Adelaide and is doubtful for the following trip to take on Greater Western Sydney.

West Coast missed Jetta's pace and rebound in round three against Carlton and the Eagles' match committee has some thinking to do.

Former Power onballer Brendon Ah Chee could come into consideration for a club debut after two games back for East Perth from a high ankle sprain.

Meanwhile, Vardy failed to get through his first game in nearly two months when his adductor problem resurfaced in the Royals' thumping 66-point win over Fremantle-aligned Peel last Sunday.

"Nathan had a slight tweak in the groin/adductor area on the weekend while he was playing and we took a really conservative approach given the history we've had with it," football manager Craig Vozzo told westcoasteagles.com.au.

"He'll recover and probably be a progression over the next one to two weeks to return to play."

Jetta and Vardy were limited to stationary handball work at Eagles training on Tuesday.

Midfielder Dom Sheed and spearhead Josh Kennedy were both missing at Lathlain Park, however Liam Ryan was in good spirits after shedding his moon boot.

Ryan, who did some light skills work and walked laps, and fellow youngster Daniel Venables are both tracking well after serious ankle injuries.

"It will be a slow progression. We won't take too much risk with both those boys, but they're probably tracking ahead of schedule, which is good," Vozzo said.

"It will be a slow burn but probably over the next eight, nine or 10 weeks both those boys will be a position to return to play."

East Perth should regain prolific midfielder Luke Partington (hamstring) against East Fremantle this round, but Hamish Brayshaw's (knee) return date has blown back out to four weeks.

Veteran full-back Eric Mackenzie showed some promising signs on Tuesday by jumping, marking and kicking for the first time this year during an open training session after battling stress fractures in both feet in pre-season.
