STANDOUT comeback VFL performances from Collingwood duo Jordan De Goey and Jamie Elliott have them in the selection frame for the AFL side next week.

De Goey put in a sparking display in his return from a hamstring injury to help Collingwood defeat the Northern Blues 31.15 (201) to 11.5 (71) at Preston City Oval.

In the first half, De Goey showed off his burst from the stoppages, while he spent more time forward in the second half and finished the game with four goals.

The talented midfielder had been handed a club-imposed indefinite suspension for drink driving in February, but he has since been declared eligible to play in the senior side.

Meanwhile, Elliott resumed after a long lay-off, stemming from left ankle surgery last November, but barely seemed perturbed by his stint on the sidelines, booting five goals and looking in similarly excellent touch.

Both had targets to play around 75-80 per cent game time and emerged unscathed.

VFL coach Jared Rivers was thrilled with the output of his whole side after its dominant 130-point win and was impressed with De Goey's work around the stoppages.

"He's got that speed back and that power, and just his ability to use the ball in tight situations is impressive. I don't think we'll be seeing him too much longer at VFL level," Rivers told AFL.com.au.
Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury told Melbourne radio station SEN on Saturday De Goey had changed.

"De Goey has made great inroads. Initially there were a few really honest conversations with Jordan, now it's about support and guidance," Pendlebury said.

"It looks like De Goey has made a shift. It does look like there is a new Jordy."

Rivers was also complimentary of Elliott.

"He's a hard worker, he comes in and plays his role each week. His selflessness as well just shows you what type of person he is. He's a credit to himself, how hard he's worked," Rivers said.

"We'll probably be missing him as well next week – who knows? They're both in ripper form and hopefully they get their opportunity soon."

Fellow small forward Alex Fasolo put his name forward for selection with three goals.

"He's getting his shots on goal now. He definitely hit the scoreboard well, he's competing well in the air and on the ground and putting on that pressure in our forward half," Rivers said.
