THERE will be a Lynch lining up for Richmond this year, with the Tigers signing Bethany Lynch ahead of the start of the VFL Women's season on 5 May.

Lynch is the sister of Gold Coast forward Tom, and has not played football since she was 12.

The 20-year-old was introduced to the club through a mutual contact with Richmond women's football operations manager Kate Sheahan and started training before Christmas.

Though extremely raw, Lynch's talent saw her earn a spot on Richmond's pre-season list. From there, she impressed coach Tom Hunter enough in her three practice matches to get signed to the VFLW list.

The midfielder doesn't quite have brother Tom's height, standing at 173cm, but can also hit the scoreboard, kicking a goal in Richmond's most recent hit-out against an Australian Defence Force side.

Tom Lynch is out of contract at the end of this season, with Richmond reportedly a possible home if he chooses to leave Gold Coast.

It's not the only brother-sister combination playing across the AFL and VFLW.

The Mitchells (Tom and Chelsea, a train-on player at Hawthorn), the Andersons (North Melbourne's Jed and NT Thunder's Jasmine) and the Cunicos (Geelong's Jordan and Casey's Kimberley) have strong football bloodlines.

Another variation on the theme is the Exon family, with Nat playing for Brisbane in the AFLW and Ryan playing for Coburg in the VFL.
