Job Description
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Data Infrastructure & Technology, this role is central to ensuring our football and corporate operations run seamlessly, securely and efficiently. You will deliver Level 2/3 technical support across the Club while contributing hands-on across infrastructure, cybersecurity, network administration and project delivery.
From supporting match-day technology and critical systems, to managing cloud and on-premise environments, you will play a vital role in enabling performance — on and off the field.
At the core of this role is ownership of the Club’s core infrastructure, user support and cybersecurity posture. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a small, high-performing IT environment and enjoys taking ownership across diverse technical domains.
You will:
- Deliver Level 2/3 technical support services, resolving complex incidents and service requests, while contributing to Level 1 support where required
- Provide on-ground technical support during select game days and Club events to ensure match-day systems, connectivity and communications operate seamlessly
- Manage and maintain the Club’s on-premise and cloud infrastructure including Microsoft 365, Azure AD, virtualised server environments, NAS/SAN storage, networking equipment and security platforms
- Coordinate deployment, configuration and patch management across Windows, Linux and macOS environments
- Implement and enhance endpoint protection, MFA, device compliance and broader cybersecurity controls
- Develop and test backup and disaster recovery processes to ensure business continuity
- Manage network infrastructure across two sites including Wi-Fi, switching, firewalls, VLAN segmentation and VPN services
- Lead or support infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations and technology rollouts aligned to strategic objectives
- Partner with vendors, AFL technology stakeholders and service providers to deliver compliant, future-ready solutions
- Create documentation, knowledge base articles and SOPs to enhance efficiency and user self-service

- A proactive problem solver who identifies risks and implements sustainable solutions before issues impact operations
- Adaptable, dependable and flexible, including occasional out-of-hours support for match-day operations
What you need
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in IT support or systems/network administration
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related field
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure AD and Windows Server environments
- Networking and firewall fundamentals (ideally Cisco Meraki)
- Endpoint management experience (Intune, JAMF or similar)
- VMware ESXi virtualisation experience and some Linux exposure
- Valid Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one
