FRANKSTON               2.1        5.5        7.5        12.7 (79)
COLINGWOOD           3.0        3.5        9.10     11.12 (78)

It was another entertaining Friday night display out at Kinetic Stadium with Frankston coming from behind to deliver a one-point win over Collingwood. A game with multiple lead changes throughout the first half threatened to open up in the third term by the Magpies, who had 11 of the 13 scoring shots produced for the term. They would kick six majors to take a 17-point advantage into the final quarter and whilst any thoughts of leaving opportunities on the table were quashed initially after hitting a game-high 22-point advantage five minutes into the last term, the Dolphins got to work and kicked the next four majors unanswered to tie the scores in the closing stages. It would be a Noah Gown behind that would win the match for the hosts and move Frankston outside of the top six only on percentage. Jackson Voss was vital in the Dolphins’ win, finishing with 32 disposals, five intercept possessions and the game-tying major while Trent Mynott was also excellent with 29 disposals and seven tackles. Collingwood’s best for the night came from the likes of Josh Browne (25 disposals, six clearances) and Charlie West (21 disposals, three goals).

Geelong moved to an eight-game winning streak and extended their gap on top of the ladder to 12 points after defeating Southport by 47 points at Fankhauser Reserve. A five-goal to two opening term looked to set the tone for the ladder leaders and they would take a 17-point advantage into half time despite only having two more scoring shots. Williamstown’s goalkicking brilliance has propelled them to a spot inside the top six by week’s end, as they claimed a 37-point win over Casey Demons at DSV Stadium on Saturday. In typical windy conditions, the Seagulls made the most of an early advantage to boot seven first term goals and set the ascendency with a 39-point lead at quarter time. The Demons would then have their opportunity to impact the scoreboard and whilst they were successful in defence, keeping the hosts to only two behinds, they would struggle to take their chances, kicking just three majors from 10 scoring shots to still trail at half time. It allowed Williamstown to put the game beyond doubt in the third term with an eight-goal quarter on their to their seventh victory of the season. Toby Triffett controlled things in the middle with 28 touches and a season-high 14 clearances while up forward, Kallan Dawson booted four majors to make it 12 goals in his last three outings.
