BRISBANE will be out to avenge last year's Grand Final heartbreak when it hosts premier North Melbourne on Saturday evening.

The Kangaroos began their premiership defence in style last week, overcoming Geelong by 73 points in a comprehensive win. It's hard to find a flaw in Darren Crocker's side this year. Debutant Claire Mahony was great on debut, while the likes of Jasmine Garner, Ash Riddell and Tess Craven were as strong as ever. Both Tahlia Randall and Blaithin Bogue picked up from where they left off last year with three majors apiece.

While they dispatched with Essendon neatly last week, the Lions face a tougher opponent in the Roos.

Without Ally Anderson, Courtney Hodder and Dakota Davidson, an already huge challenge against the two-time premiers has grown again. But the Lions are a proud team, and won't go down without a fight.

Rania Crozier comes into the side for Davidson (suspension), while the Roos have dropped forward-ruck Emma King in favour of veteran Emma Kearney.
