Williamstown sent another huge statement in the final round of the regular season, while Geelong’s red-hot finish to the season handed Carlton a home elimination final.

The Western Bulldogs will officially return to the VFLW finals stage after a 29-point victory over Tasmania at Windsor Park. After conceding the opening major of the game just 27 seconds in, the Devils responded with three consecutive goals to rush out to a 12-point lead before settling for a five-point quarter time advantage. The Bulldogs would then take control of the match with an impressive second term, booting four unanswered majors in a 15-minute span to have all the momentum at half time with a 19-point lead. The hosts would quickly restore order and led by Ava Read, twice brought the margin back to six points at stages of the third term before having a 13-point deficit to chase in the last quarter, however the Western Bulldogs would boot the final two majors of the game to win their ninth match of the season and finish in sixth position. Ellie Gavalas was superb for the Dogs, amassing 26 disposals, nine tackles and kicking two goals, meanwhile Ellie Bishop was at her best with 25 touches and four inside 50s. Read finished with three goals for the Devils, totalling 21 for the year, meanwhile Perri King was a standout with 24 disposals, nine tackles and seven clearances.

For the second time in three seasons, Williamstown are minor premiers in the VFLW competition after accounting for Collingwood by 37 points at DSV Stadium. The Seagulls looked prime to secure their fourth consecutive victory from the outset, jumping to a 19-point quarter time lead after keeping the Pies to without a score. That would continue for much of the second term, with Collingwood only managing one behind to half time whilst the Gulls continued to find the goals, eventually taking a 38-point advantage into the main break. Amelia Peck would break the goal drought for the Pies to end the third term but the damage had been done when Williamstown hit a game-high 51-point margin during the quarter. Four goals from Mia Zielinski became crucial in securing the four points for Williamstown, it’s the fourth time this season she has kicked four goals or more in a game. Meanwhile teammates Taelah Smith (23 disposals, six inside 50s, one goal) and Ellen Williams (23 disposals, eight intercept possessions, six rebound 50s) also had a say in the triumph. The Pies, who end the home and away campaign in third spot, saw the likes of Abbey Tregellis (24 disposals, five rebound 50s) and Millie Lang (24 disposals, nine intercept possessions) stand tall in defence.

North Melbourne-Werribee will head into another finals series on the back of a strong final quarter, this time defeating Box Hill by 30 points at Arden Street Oval. The Roos were having few issues finding the scoreboard in the opening term, or more specifically Zoe Savarirayan, who kicked all three of the team’s majors in the first quarter, to help create a narrow four-point quarter time lead. The Hawks would be afforded some opportunities to put some scoreboard pressure on the reigning premiers but managed only one goal from four scoring shots to fall one point behind the accurate Kangaroos by halftime. Whilst again unable to gain full reward for effort in the third term, Box Hill would eventually lead at three quarter time, keeping North Melbourne-Werribee to just one goal for the quarter to go six points ahead, however it would prove to be a margin easily caught by the Roos, who in the space of 12 minutes of play, booted six unanswered goals, to power past the gallant Hawks. Savariryan finished with a season-high four majors, whilst Ava Seton and Nyakoat Dojiok each produced two final term goals. Alana Barba was another to hit the scoreboard, also amassing 31 disposals, 10 tackles and six clearances. For Box Hill, who will miss finals for the first time since 2021, Kayley Kavanagh was brilliant with 31 disposals, nine clearances, eight tackles and a goal.

Darebin and Essendon ended their seasons in thrilling fashion, producing the competition’s first and only draw of the year at Preston City Oval. With both sides out of finals contention and determined to end 2026 on a high, it would be the Falcons who kicked the only goal of the first term to lead by six points at quarter time. The Bombers would make inroads in the second term, kicking two goals to one and taking the momentum into the second half despite trailing by a solitary point. The third quarter was low scoring with both teams having two scoring shots apiece, but it was Amelie Gladman’s sole major that gave Essendon a four-point lead to work with in the last quarter. The Falcons were excellent for much of the final term, and back-to-back majors saw the home side lead by nine points halfway through the final term before the Dons surged forward with repeat inside 50 entries. They would manage three successive behinds before captain El Chaston delivered in the final minute, converting a clutch set shot on a tight angle to tie the scores and share the spoils between the two teams. Chaston finished with eight intercept possessions alongside Chloe Adams who also had 18 disposals, whilst Bess Keaney was influential with 22 touches and seven intercept possessions. Isabella Daddo was hard at it all day for the Falcons, having 22 disposals and eight tackles, with teammate Mia Spiteri always dangerous inside forward 50, kicking one goal from five scoring shots.

Geelong ended their home and away season with a fifth straight win, defeating finals-bound Port Melbourne by four points at Deakin University, but it wouldn’t be enough to earn a finals berth. The in-form Cats kicked the opening goal of the match but would trail at quarter time after the Borough kicked the next two majors. The home side were arguably the better team across the second term but only managed one goal from five scoring shots for their effort, with Port Melbourne’s sole major in the second term enough to see them still lead at half time, albeit by two points. The Cats would be more accurate despite less scoring shots in the third quarter with two goals kicked and a four-point lead at the final change. The visitors would respond with a major at the five-minute mark and they held a three-point lead deep into the quarter until a second goal from Nikita Harris at the 16-minute mark reestablished Geelong’s lead and it would prove to be the last goal of the match in what was a positive end to the season for the Cats. Renee Morgan was a standout for Geelong with 24 disposals, 10 tackles and seven clearances, with teammate Melanie Staunton also impactful with 18 touches and seven tackles. The Borough’s Mia Caffry will head into the finals series in excellent form, another game that included 22 disposals and a season-high 13 clearances.

Sandringham ended a six-game losing run to close out the 2026 VFLW home and away season, defeating Casey by 46 points at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Zebras, who have been unable to kick more than six goals in a game this year, started the match on fire with six unanswered majors against a Demons outfit who only managed one behind in the process. Trailing by 35 points at quarter time, the hosts would improve in the second term, winning the quarter by kicking three goals to two, but Sandringham would have another surge again in the third to all but secure the result of the game. The visitors booted three goals from seven scoring shots during the term before settling for a 46-point final margin by full time. The 12 goals helped Sandringham produce their highest ever score in the VFLW competition, whilst not since Round 4, 2025 against Geelong have they prevailed by a bigger margin. Three players booted multiple goals, including Zoe Barbakos, who finishes as the club’s leading goalkicker with 12 majors. Grace Perrett was another to impress in the win for Sandringham, with the 18-year-old having 28 disposals, eight tackles and seven clearances in her VFLW debut. Tylah Burn was a solid contributor for Casey in what was a tough end to a difficult season for the Demons. She finished with an equal season-high 22 disposals, as well as 14 tackles and six clearances.
