NORTH Melbourne forward Ben Brown has been cleared of any structural damage to his knee after receiving positive scan results on Saturday.

Brown fell awkwardly after a ruck contest in the third quarter of the Kangaroos' 11-point win over Essendon on Friday night at Etihad Stadium and was subbed out of the game.

The 22-year-old had an interrupted pre-season after knee surgery in December but has been in good form in recent weeks.

The Kangaroos said Brown would be monitored closely during the week ahead of the vital clash against Fremantle in Perth next Saturday.

North Melbourne can't afford to lose him particularly with Jarrad Waite facing a nervous wait after being reported for striking on Friday night.
