DO NOT write West Coast off regardless of the severity of Nic Naitanui's injury, Eagles coach Adam Simpson says.

The Eagles delivered a statement on Friday night with a 25-point win over Hawthorn to not only keep their top-four hopes alive, but also remind the competition that their best is formidable.

However, the win was soured by a serious left knee injury to Naitanui that has left West Coast holding its breath.

Five talking points: West Coast v Hawthorn

But the Eagles won five of the six games Naitanui missed this season following surgery to remove both plantaris tendons.

Simpson was adamant his team is still in the premiership hunt.

"It's been a different year, but we've found a way to win 15 games," Simpson said after downing Hawthorn.

"Don't write us off. The season’s still alive and we're up for the challenge."

The Eagles have won seven of their last eight, including three against top-eight sides in North Melbourne, Greater Western Sydney and Hawthorn.

They head to Adelaide to face the Crows next Friday night and Simpson said they were full of confidence.

"The belief has been pretty strong all year," he said.

"I think we've lost one game since the bye. We've found a way to win. It hasn't been pretty, but sometimes that's even better.

"I feel like we're match-hardened at the moment, which is important going into Adelaide in Adelaide on Friday night, possibly fighting for a home final.

"I wouldn't say it's been planned, and we can play better, but the past two or three weeks we've probably played at the level we've all seen before."

The Eagles will need to settle on a ruck combination if Naitanui is ruled out.

They tried four different ruck combinations in Naitanui's absence earlier in the year but Simpson admitted he did not have a clear picture of what would be the best option.

Promising young defending Tom Barrass missed the win over the Hawks with shin splints but he could return for the clash with the Crows. Scott Lycett copped a knock to his knee in the last quarter but was able to return after getting it assessed.
