ROUND two is complete and while we didn't see as many huge scores from our premium players, the rookies turned up once again and are scoring well above the level we have experienced in recent years. As far as our trade focus moving forward, standard injury fix ups and rage trading of under-performing premiums will no doubt be on the cards with the hope it's not for late withdrawals like Toby Greene or Mitch Duncan, who had coaches searching for the delete team button.

Nine things we learned from round two

Fantasy Pig

Ed Curnow made plenty of draft coaches happy with a massive effort against the Suns. He was everywhere and doing a bit of everything with 38 possessions, seven marks and 10 tackles for a thumping score of 160. I should also give a shout out to the four per cent of Classic coaches that selected him in a bold move that will no doubt have them looking good for a league win.

Honourable mention: Rory Laird has started the season with plenty of snout, dominating across half back for the Crows. He backed up a sensational start to the season with a phenomenal 42 possessions and nine marks for 141, rewarding the 65 per cent of coaches that paid the big bucks to start with him. He is certainly going to come at a price for anyone righting that wrong in the coming weeks.

Rage trades

Zach Merrett avoided a mention last week after his 23 points and break even of 190 due to his first quarter concussion and although I was going to be lenient with him this week given the head knock, 21 touches and six tackles for 78 points from one of the most expensive players in the competition isn't going to cut it. To second gamer Bailey Banfield's credit, he did a great job tagging but Merrett needs to be better than that if he is to remain a top eight calibre premium. Seller beware: He plays the Dogs this week and that should see his first decent return for the year.

Honourable mention: Aaron Sandilands owners rightfully had some head wobble after round one following the bargain big man's domination. Unfortunately, that came to an abrupt halt against the Bombers where he failed to take a mark or lay a tackle, resulting in just 42 points. This will certainly have his seven per cent of coaches weighing up their options.

Tim Kelly made most of our premiums look like second gamers after his domination on Easter Monday. He had the ball on a string for 27 possessions but also took six marks, laid four tackles and kicked a goal on his way to 115. If you don't have him, you really need to fix that up.

Liam Ryan took full advantage of the Dogs who are leaking points at a high rate. In just his second game he managed six scoring shots which included three goals for a score of 91.

Jeremy Finlayson reaffirmed that he is a must have defender with another sensational game, this time at the expense of the Magpies. He looked like a top six backman as he amassed an impressive 21 kicks on his way to a score of 90.

Fantasy mailbag

Assuming he is selected next week, I would be holding.

I like them both, but after picking up Taranto last week, that is where my loyalty lies… Plus he is so cheap.

I would give him a go this week against Port, who don't have a ruck… Should see a triple figure return.

He would have to be a chance, been spending plenty of time up forward.
