ADELAIDE utilities Mitch McGovern and Andy Otten will have post-season surgeries in the coming days with their futures at the Crows uncertain beyond this year.

McGovern will have a minor arthroscopic procedure on both ankles, while Otten will have surgery to alleviate an Achilles issue that troubled him in the second half of the season.

The Crows said both players were expected to make a quick recovery.

It was a frustrating season for McGovern, who booted 15 goals in his 12 games.

The 24-year-old was on the back foot after suffering a high ankle sprain in the Crows' round eight loss to Port Adelaide.

After missing 10 weeks, he returned for two games before having a stint in the SANFL, then being recalled for the last two games of the season.

Despite having signed a three-year contract extension at the end of last season, there is speculation McGovern could request a trade.

"I walk around in the world like everyone else and generally where there is smoke, there is fire," Crows coach Don Pyke said last week.

"I can only expect there is some information through him or management he is not happy here at times.

"When I became aware those rumours were there, we sat down and had a conversation around what it looks like and we will deal with that.

"My philosophy is to work with the player to work out if he is unhappy here or otherwise and what we can do to maintain that guy at our footy club.

"Hopefully there is resolution if he comes in and says he wants to go."

McGovern has played 48 games for the Crows since being selected with the 43rd pick in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.

Otten played eight games for the Crows this season taking the 29-year-old's total to 106 games in 11 seasons.

He is off-contract and wants to play on next year.
