Season verdict: Roos fans hail Brad Scott's great leap forward

Roo forward needs to stop teasing us What went right and what went wrong for North Melbourne in The Wash-Up

NORTH Melbourne fans have given coach Brad Scott resounding support after a season that defied the doomsayers.

Giving their verdict on the Roos in an AFL.com.au survey, 90 per cent of supporters backed Scott's efforts in guiding their team to ninth, when many pundits had predicted a wooden spoon.

Classy midfielder Shaun Higgins shook off many injury-plagued seasons to earn his maiden All Australian blazer and was recognised by 67 per cent of fans as the club's player of the season.

Missing finals by just four points (and percentage) is rarely marked as a tick by fans, but the promise shown by young Roo Paul Ahern and the rejuvenation of Majak Daw and Jed Anderson saw North Melbourne's season rated 7.4 out of 10, comfortably the highest rating for any team to miss the finals.

A costly fade-out against the struggling Western Bulldogs in round 21 will live on in the minds of supporters over summer as a 'what could have been' moment.

Here are the full survey results and a selection of Roos fans' highlights and lowlights.
