SYDNEY officials "nearly fell off their chairs" on learning of Dan Hannebery's appointment to St Kilda's leadership group, AFL.com.au chief football correspondent Damian Barrett has revealed.
Hannebery, who moved from the Swans to the Saints on a lucrative five-year deal, was elected to the Saints' five-man leadership group last week.
While Hannebery has committed himself at training, Barrett said the 27-year-old had reportedly failed to rein in his heavy social schedule.
BARRETT: Can Hannebery live up to his price tag - and pressure?
"He's certainly said to have a good off-season. He's got up to a bit of socialising in the off-season," Barrett said on The Sounding Board podcast.
"It is an issue because of what they've invested in him and the fact that no other club, when it came to the crunch in Trade Period last year, actually went for him.
"I think it's a questionable decision (to recruit Hannebery) right now".
