ADELAIDE midfielder Bryce Gibbs has been ruled out of Saturday's clash against St Kilda at Marvel Stadium due to a bout of gastro.

The 30-year-old didn't travel with the team on Friday afternoon in the hope he would recover in time and take a later flight.

But he remained in Adelaide overnight before the Crows officially ruled him out on Saturday morning.

Youngsters Chayce Jones and Jordan Gallucci are travelling with the team to Melbourne as the two emergencies, with one of those players set to come in.

"Bryce has got a bit of a virus so we're waiting on him at the moment," Crows coach Don Pyke said on Friday.

"He's pretty crook this morning, so we'll see if he gets better across the afternoon. So we're taking two just in case he doesn't come up."

Midfielder Myles Poholke has replaced the injured Wayne Milera in the Crows' side in the other change announced on Thursday.

Forward Josh Jenkins is yet to push his way back into the side after being dropped ahead of the Crows' 73-point win over Gold Coast.

Jenkins revealed in a media interview last week that he made his displeasure known to Pyke in a phone call between the pair when he was informed that he had been dropped.

Pyke said he had no issue with Jenkins making the details of that conversation public.

The key forward will play in the SANFL again on Saturday.

"He's really clear in terms of what he needs to do, and last week he was solid without being outstanding," Pyke said.

"He was after some clarity around the why, and that's fine. We had a good conversation, and now it's about performance getting back into the team.

"That's Josh's decision (to make that conversation public), and the reality was it was a conversation between a player and a coach."

The Crows take on the Saints at 4.35pm AEST on Saturday.
