PORT Adelaide has axed club champions Justin Westhoff and Paddy Ryder for Saturday night's encounter with ladder leaders Geelong at Adelaide Oval.

AFL.com.au understands Westhoff and Ryder have been dropped, along with midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper and defender Jarrod Lienert.

They make way for returning stars Ollie Wines, Charlie Dixon and Brad Ebert.

It’s understood young defender Joel Garner will come into the side to replace Lienert.

Westhoff's run of 135 consecutive games – the longest current streak in the AFL – will come to an end.

The 32-year-old won the Power's best and fairest last year, while Ryder took home the John Cahill Medal in 2017, along with earning All Australian honours in the ruck.

Ryder had just seven disposals and kicked two goals in last weekend's 21-point loss to Fremantle at Optus Stadium.
