COLLINGWOOD will offer key defender Lynden Dunn a career lifeline as one of nine remaining list spots on offer following Friday's NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

The delisted veteran will continue to train with the Pies and be selected via the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP) before its closure in March if fit.

DRAFT TRACKER Every pick, every player

The Pies opted to pass on its final selection in the rookie draft which will open up a spot to be used on the 32-year-old during the SSP which opens on Tuesday December 3.

Melbourne skipped its two selections that have been touted for Harley Bennell and Mitch Brown, while Essendon left a position open to select Jacob Townsend

It leaves Adelaide, Greater Western Sydney, Hawthorn and West Coast with openings that can be used in the SSP or NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

The Bombers will also have another position after revealing that draftee Lachlan Johnson (pictured) will be added to the inactive list after arriving with a long-term knee injury.

Gold Coast also passed on a selection on Friday but is set to upgrade Category B rookie Patrick Murtagh to Category A and add finalise its list in the process.

SSP signings can be made from players overlooked in the draft (such as Sydney Stack last year), 2019 delisted players (like Mav Weller last year) or previously listed players (like Zac Clarke las year).

The Eagles are set to add former Carlton and Greater Western Sydney forward Jarrod Pickett to its training list inside the next month with the possibility of a rookie berth.

MATURE PROSPECTS The 14 best on your club's radar

The Crows have shown a tendency to look to their SANFL list and will have 23-year-old small forward James Mathews continue to train with their AFL squad.

Delisted Hawk Darren Minchington has been training at Waverley Park in the possibility of earning a lifeline, while they've also shown interest in Magarey medallist Luke Partington (pictured).

The Giants have also had mature-age ruckman Werribee ruckman Darcy Bennett training with its AFL squad in recent weeks.

Elsewhere, delisted Western Bulldog Lukas Webb has been given the option to keep training with Carlton despite the Blues' list being full. Should the Blues suffer a long-term injury, Webb could be called upon via the SSP.
