PORT Adelaide is in no doubt hobbled duo Charlie Dixon and Scott Lycett will be ready for the club's season-opening round one clash against Gold Coast in a fortnight's time.

Dixon, 29, went down with a left groin problem during the third term of Saturday afternoon's 10-point win over the Western Bulldogs at Bennett Stadium in the Marsh Community Series.

That came not long after fellow big man Scott Lycett, 27, went to the bench with a left Achilles problem.

At this stage though, Power coach Ken Hinkley is supremely confident both will be fine when the home and away season begins.

"He's (Dixon) got a slight groin, nothing too serious. Right now, I'd say he's probably no risk for round one, but you're never sure. Because we've got the week off, I don't think there'll be any issue," Hinkley said.

"Lycett's the same. I think both boys will be fit and firing for round one, which is great."

Having both available would be a big relief for Hinkley, whose side needs to make finals for a trigger in his contract to be activated that would see him remain as coach for 2021.

Dixon's presence will be especially important considering the form he has displayed throughout the pre-season.

He bagged four goals against Brisbane before following up with 2.3 in the victory over the Dogs.

"We haven't got too many 6-foot-10 power forwards, so we need him a little bit," Hinkley said.

"He's had a great pre-season. It would have been a shame for him to miss the start of the season."

With Todd Marshall and Mitch Georgiades showing impressive signs, Hinkley is open to selecting a trio of talls in attack.

"They're both in the mix. We would like to be a bit taller as a forward line, there's no doubt about that, and support Charlie a little bit more, and that's what you see when they start to emerge, that that's a more dangerous look," Hinkley said.

"The opposition are starting to guess, do we double-team Charlie as much, can we afford to leave Marshall with Georgiades jumping at the ball.

"That's what you want. You want triple threats."

Meanwhile, Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge said spearhead Aaron Naughton was no certainty to feature in his side's season-opener against Collingwood, even if he has overcome his knee injury.

"There's a chance that he'll be right for round one. We've got to consider him and work our way through that, whether it's a good decision to play him in round one now that he's missed a bit of footy," Beveridge said.

With Josh Bruce booting four goals in the loss to the Power and Tim English impressing in the ruck, Beveridge knows he has options.

"Obviously last year, the evolution of Tim English was fascinating, and he played some really influential games and he looked good up forward at times last year, so we'll do a little bit of that this year," Beveridge said.
